[~*~] Victor Terrazas vs Cristian Mijares Live Update News!
By Chris Williams: Former IBF/WBA/WBC super flyweight Cristian Mijares (47-6-2, 22 KO’s) and Victor Terrazas (36-2-1, 21 KO’s) could wind up fighting on April 20th for the vacant WBC super bantamweight title, according

Abner Mares, the current WBC super bantamweight champion, is vacating his World Boxing Council title to move up to featherweight where he feels it’ll be easier for him to make the weight for the division.

Mares wants to go after one or more of the titles at that weight while he waits to see what’s going to happen with WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire in terms of him and his promoter Bob Arum showing interest in fighting him. If they decide against a fight then Mares won’t have missed anything because he’ll be looking to take on the top champions at featherweight.

Mijares, #2 WBC, and Terrazas #1 WBC, are the highest ranked fighters by the WBC, and they’ll obviously be the ones fighting for Mares’ vacated WBC crown. Mijares was at one time one of the best fighters at super flyweight, but he’s not the same fighter at super bantamweight that he was when he was fighting at 115.

The combination of age and him moving up in weight has left Mijares as just one of the many contenders in the division. I suspect he’ll lose badly to the 29-year-old Terrazas, who isn’t that bad of a fighter. Terrazas recently beat Fernando Montiel by a 12 round unanimous decision in 2011 in an impressive performance.

Mijares has been pretty carefully matched since he lost three consecutive bouts to Vic Darchinyan and Nehomar Cermeno. Mijares has won his last 11 fights since, albeit against pitifully weak opposition. Mijares’ #2 ranking by the World Boxing Council really makes you wonder what they see in him because he looked average in beating an over the hill Rafael Marquez recently last year in October.
